Every Tuesday we run a special feature on a rescue cat looking for a loving home. This week the spotlight is on Tico, a young soul ready to move in to a forever home.

Established in 1860, Battersea Dogs & Cats Home aims to never turn away a dog or cat in need of help. They reunite lost dogs and cats with their owners; when they can’t do this they care for them until new owners can be found for them. They also work hard to educate the public about responsible pet ownership including microchipping, neutering and training. This includes educational talks and visits to schools and organisations, events, and publications. They help care for over 9000 cats & dogs a year - including Tico, an affectionate boy looking for a loving, forever home.

    Name: Tico

    Breed: Domestic Medium-hair

    Sex: Male

    Age: 3 years 2 months

    Centre: London

    Reference: 361716

Tico is an interactive and sociable cat who makes friends quickly and takes any opportunity that he can to sit on your lap and if you pat your chest he will stand up and place his paws on you, the better to gaze intently into your face!

But it's not all laps and snoozes with our Tico - he is a lively boy who loves to play with his toys and is happiest when you join in the fun

Battersea screens all cats for the Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) and Tico has tested positive. FIV is a slow-acting virus and most cats live long, happy and healthy lives. However, in order to protect other cats and to preserve the health of the carrier, Battersea rehomes FIV+ cats to homes with enclosed gardens.

Being a lively young cat, Tico will need space both indoors and out. Don't worry if your garden isn't currently "cat-proofed"; we can offer plenty of advice. We'll also arrange for you to speak to a Battersea vet prior to rehoming.

To meet Tico, please contact Battersea Dogs & Cats Home’s London centre on 0843 509 4444.
