    Man Fined For Animal Cruelty

    NewsAnimal CrueltyFriday 03 June 2011

A man from Perth, Australia, has been fined $3000 for failing to seek medical treatment for his cancer-stricken cat. The conviction showes that pet neglect will not be tolerated.

The Perth Magistrates Court found a cat’s owner guilty of allowing the pet to suffer harm by not taking reasonable steps. Snowy, a little white cat, was found bleeding from a large, open wound on the side of his head where its ear should have been. According to the RSPCA officials, the wound was swollen and puss laden. Snowy was also suffering from other sores on its body.

An investigation by the RSPCA found Snowy had been previously treated for cancer, but its owner had not taken the cat to a veterinary clinic in the previous 12 months. The cat was taken to the RSPCA Veterinary Department where it had to be euthanized.

Snowy's owner was on Monday fined $3000 for animal cruelty and was also ordered to pay $1700 in court costs.
