    Kitten in van engine

NewsCat Rescue NewsMonday 30 May 2011
A small kitten was rescued on Saturday morning from the engine of a Renault Kangoo in Burnley after crawling inside to keep warm and getting stuck.

Fortunately the owner of the van heard the kitten and tried to coax it out for several hours. As it resulted impossible to get the cat out he contacted the RSPCA and they rang the fire service. It took almost an hour to dismantle the engine compartment, take out the batter and radiator.

The kitten survived and was taken away by the RSPCA to try and trace its owner.

The incident came as figures revealed Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service spent £281,000 in the past three years on animal rescues.
