    Halloween Cat Costume

All the cat lovers love to spend time with their felines. Although Halloween celebrations might not be the perfect place to take your feline, you can add some cat fun to this night by making a cat  Halloween costumes can be expensive, so read this article to learn how to do it on your own this year.

You might need black tights, ballet slippers, a leotard and skirt, then by making just the ears and tail, and painting your face your Halloween cat costume is ready! If you don’t have a ballet outfit for your kitty, don’t worry, any black outfit will work – skirt, leggings, pants, tops, and shoes.  Remember you don’t have to spend a lot of money if you don’t have any black outfits, hit up a local thrift shop, you are sure to find something you can use for just a couple of dollars.

To make the cat ears for the costume you will need a headband, black felt, pink felt, black and gray embroidery thread and needle, pink glitter glue, toy stuffing. Once you get all the necessary things, measure the width of your headband.  Cut a piece of felt on a diagonal leaving an extra half centimeter or so –  felt you pick up at the craft store is a rectangular shape, you will need to cut it diagonally to ensure your strip for covering the headband is the correct length (most children’s headbands are roughly the same length).  To follow, fold the felt over the headband and using the embroidery thread stitch the ends together. Cut four black ears and two smaller pink ears out of felt. Stitch the pink ears onto the front of two of the black ears using gray embroidery thread.  Stitch the sides of the black ears together using the black embroidery thread.  Put a little stuffing into each ear, but don’t stitch the bottom closed. Place an ear onto the headband stitching the bottom of the front of the ear to the front of the headband and the back of the ear to the back of the headband.  This will help the ear stand up straight. Repeat with the second ear. If you want you can decorate the pink section of the ear with glitter glue or sequins, or just leave it plain.

To make the cat tail for the Halloween cat costume you will need: a thin black feather boa, black elastic (about ½ centimeter wide), black cotton and needle. To make the tail put the elastic around your child’s waist and cut to fit.  Sew the ends together.  Hang the feather boa from their lower back and again cut the desired length.  Stitch the cut end of the feather boa onto the elastic.
