Keeping your cat cool during the hot summer temperatures is crucial for its good health and wellbeing. Bear in mind that though cats can deal with temperatures changes and get accustomed to new conditions in some part, they will need your help as well. Especially, long haired kittens will tend to need your help and will rely on you so they can stay cool during the summer.

The first thing you should think about is to provide your cat fresh and cool water. You can place ice cubes in their bowls so it stay cool and encourage your cats to drink more liquids as most of the cats will enjoy playing with the ice. For the outside cats you should try to keep them inside your home during the day in order to decrease a possibility of a heatstroke. You can also install a cat door that will allow your cat to get inside or go outside without your supervision. Although cats usually hate water, you can think about bathing your cat from time to time to keep it cool. On warm days your cat is likely to appreciate it!

Remember to groom your cat regularly with a brush and slicker. This is especially important if your cats hair has a tendency to matt or tangle. It will help to get the old hair off and in longer period of time it will prevent the hairballs.
