Halloween Treats: not for you, for your cat!

    ArticleTuesday 30 October 2012

Isn’t it time that your cat had a nice treat to eat. With all the Halloween candy this year, why not make some ‘candy’ for your cat.

    55 g Warm water
    5 Tablespoons parmesan cheese
    3 Tablespoons soft margarine
    1 Tablespoon cod liver oil
    225 g White flour
    55 g Soy flour

    1. Firstly, preheat your oven to 150 °C, so it can heat up whilst you are making up these delicious treats (in your cat’s opinion).
    2. Mix the water, parmesan cheese, margarine and oil together.
    3. Add the flour and combine together to form dough.
    4. Roll the dough out, making sure to use a little bit of flour on the rolling pin so it does not stick to the dough, to a few cm thick.
    5. Use cookie cutters, shape(s) of your choice, to cut out as many biscuits as possible. A easy Halloween shape you can make and not have to go out and buy more equipment, is by using a circular cutter and drawing on details to make it in a pumpkin. You can also make a stalk!
    6. Once happy with the shape, lay out greaseproof paper onto a tray and lay the biscuits even spaces apart from each other.
    7. Bake for around 20 – 25 minutes, or until golden brown.
    8. Any touch ups that are need to the shapes of the biscuits can be done when the biscuits are cooked and warm.

Remember, these are treats, so give them to your cat sparingly.

    Happy Halloween!
