How to protect your kitten from sunburn?

After cold winter everyone enjoys summer and looks forward to holidays. As always, safety measures might be crucial to have great vacation. Our kittens just like we humans can get sunburn and suffer from a skin cancer. Particularly susceptible to these conditions are light coloured cats with short hair.

You should bare in mind that although sunburn might be treated, the prevention is always better. The cat’s exposure to sun should be limited by keeping it indoor between peak hours (10am and 4pm). The important thing is to choose sun protection for your cat – you can check with your vet which brands are safe for your kitten. Always apply sunscreen to your cat’s ears and nose in order to avoid sunburn, especially if your feline goes outside all day long.

Whenver you notice a weird behaviour in your cat or any symptoms that make you worried, you should contact your vet immediately.
