Poppet the cat with ingrowing claws is now recovering well
Poppet, an elderly cat, was found cowering in undergrowth on Chailey Common, near Lewes, by a dog walker.
She was severely malnourished and dehydrated and her clawes had curled around and deeply embedded into the pads on her paws.
The tortoiseshell, believed to be around 15 years old, was weighing just 2.5kg, one below what would be its ideal weight.
Poppet is now recovering at Cats Protection’s national adoption centre in Chelwood Gate while her wounds heal and is available for homing.
She will also be having some dental treatment and is on a special diet to build up her weight.
Poppet is one of nearly 200 cats at the centre currently looking for a new home.
