Hungry Stray Sneaks Into Airport & Chows Down on £700 Worth Of Seafood
A cheeky stray cat in Russia has found fame after sneaking into a shop at Vladivostok International Airport and eating through vacuum-sealed packets of smoked fish and squid.
CCTV captured the ravenous puss creeping into Fish Island whilst it was open, but staff did not notice her and locked her inside when they went home that evening. When they came back in the morning they found the famished feline had helped herself to their seafood selection.
A shop assistant at Fish Island said: 'The cat made its way inside the counter, and ate and nibbled the goods, scratched and wrecked the packaging around the squid and dried fish.’
Unfortunately the kitty's antics ended up costing the shop dearly - over £700 of food was either eaten by the cat or had to be thrown away due to health and safety. The appliance the food was stored in also had to be sanitised before being restocked.
The greedy cat has ended up becoming a local celebrity in Vladivostok, which is located in far eastern Russia, with many citizens offering to adopt her. She has found a home with Admiral Vladivostok, a professional ice hokey team in the Kontinental Hockey League.
The team has named her Matroskin after the character from Three, a popular Soviet cartoon from Prostokvashino.
But her achievements don't stop there - the lucky feline has also become the teams official mascot, so she is guaranteed many years to come in the spolight.
