35-year-old dog groomer from Pennsylvania (USA) has been accused of animal cruelty for trying to sell ‘gothic kittens’ with ear and neck piercings on eBay.

The trial began last Tuesday, 14th June, in Wilkes-Barre. The woman is prosecuted of hurting three black kittens to make money. She is said to pierce the kittens with barbell earrings and "submission rings" she inserted into the scruff of their necks, the paper reported. She also cut off their tails and pierced the stumps. The woman claims that she didn’t want to hurt them and that she used sterilized needles and made sure the kittens were healing properly. She argued that because the law doesn't specifically prohibit piercing an animal, she couldn't know it was wrong.

The Superior Court, in an opinion announced Tuesday, said the piercings amounted to torture.

According to the SPCA officials the kittens are doing well. You can watch the video here.
