Cat survives being euthanized twice and put in the freezer
Abandoned cat survived being euthanized twice and being put into the freezer at Utah animal shelter (USA).
The black and white cat was going to be euthanised after 30 days spent in the animal shelter as nobody wanted to adopt it and there were no space in the facilities. The cat stunned the vet at the West Valley City animal shelter by surviving the carbon monoxide gas chamber. After the attempt to gas the cat was still showing signs of life, so a further attempt was made. The employee ran the gas once more before placing Andrea in a bag and leaving her body in a freezer. Less than an hour later the same staff member was placing the body of a dog in the freezer when he suddenly heard a ‘meow’. Tearing open the bag he found the poor cat looking terrified but very much alive. After finding the feline alive in the bag, the workers agreed that they should not try to kill the cat again. Staff believe the cat has sustained some neurological damage, but is on the road to recovery.
Despite this incident, the shelter still stands by its euthanasia methods.
