How to get a cat into a pet carrier?

Everyone knows that cats love to go on their own way and they like to be independent. So do not be surprised if your cat will seem very unhappy when being forced into small, unfamiliar spaces such as a pet carrier. Sometimes it is necessary, especially during the summer when you decide to take your feline with you on holidays. Read our article to make this trip comfortable for your cat and also for you.

Before getting your cat near you, prepare the carrier by putting it on its end so that the opening faces the ceiling. It might be good to put a soft towel in the carrier so if the cat urinates it will absorb it and not wet your cat’s tail or legs. Now, pick up the cat with one hand placed under its front legs and the other hand supporting its bottom. Tilt the cat so that when its torso is released, it can only go into the cage. Remember that tail goes in first. When your cat gets in, close the door and secure the latch. Slowly put the carrier in the correct position – bare in mind that if you do it too fast you might injure your cat.

In case your cat turns aggressive, try to use a towel or blanket to wrap your cat up before lowering it to the carrier. Remember that cats will sense if you're tentative or nervous so be confident!
